Roman Fibulae

Material Copper alloy.
Description A hexagonal shaped brooch with raised sides, the upper face having a central area defined by a raised circle. The face is decorated by blue enamel with six smaller circles of red enamel surrounded by white. the design in the inner circle is badly damaged. Each angle of the brooch had a protrusion on the outer edge, of which only one remains, which is the one the spring and pin were attached to. Catch and pin missing. Ref: Hattatt 599 Iron Age & Roman Brooches. This same type was found in Wiltshire, England.
